Vigo

For cruise goers, Vigo is the place to be if you want to experience the “Celtic” sunny Spain.

Port of Vigo

A visit to Vigo, the main port of the Galician region, can make you see things in a different light. Vigo is one of the world’s largest fishing ports and one of the busiest for shipping. Fish is sent all over Spain and abroad to countries like Portugal, Italy, France, and to other more distant markets.

Gateway to the Atlantic

Known as ‘The Gateway to the Atlantic’, Vigo is the largest city on the northwestern coast of Spain. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal to its south and the bulk of mainland Spain to the east, Galicia‘s cooler, damper climate has earned it the nickname of ‘The Green Spain’ and made it a popular retreat for Spaniards keen to evade the summer heat, - but with a smooth and sunny weather; to enjoy lush country scenery and to tuck into some of the world‘s freshest and finest seafood, not to mention the privilege of enjoying the national park of the Cíes Islands and the living history of the city of Santiago de Compostela.

Excellent Gastronomy & Quality Shopping

The downtown district offers pleasant walks through pedestrian areas and has a diverse range of culture, shopping and restaurants serving regional cuisine. Close to the cruise berth, passengers can taste the local excellent cuisine and have oysters accompanied by any of the high-quality local wines at the A Pedra market. Attractions include the Museum of Contemporary Art, which houses many multimedia exhibitions, or the Caixanova & Caixa Galicia Galleries, with some of the world’s most recent art exhibitions and opened all year long. Not to forget the Quiñones de León Museum; the beautiful Castrelos Gardens or the great views across the entire estuary from the O Castro and A Guía hills. Visitors who want to go shopping will enjoy the different top quality malls and shopping areas like, for instance, Príncipe St., full of fine boutiques.
