Dover
Dover, known as “White Cliffs County”, was voted the most popular stretch of coastline in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Port of Dover
Today Dover is the second busiest UK cruise port and the eighth busiest north European cruise port. Driven by massive investment; state-of-the-art facilities; excellent modern transport links and award winning customer service, the Port is now very much a 21st century operation. The Cruise Port facilities are located in Dover’s Western Docks with two dedicated terminals. Just minutes from Channel shipping lanes and less than two hours drive from London, Dover is perfect for both turnarounds and port of call visits.
Kent County
Dover is situated within the county of Kent, well known as “The Garden of England“. It has the largest number of visitor attractions outside of London, including a large selection of beautiful gardens, historic castles and stunning scenary. Dover looks out on France, across the narrowest part of the English Channel. The town is the administrative centre of the Dover District. Its strategic position has always been evident throughout its history: archaeological finds have revealed that the area has always been a focus for people entering and leaving Britain and this continues to this day.
White Cliffs Country
However, what makes Dover so special is its impressive location. The town is famous for the white cliffs that form part of the British coastline along the Strait of Dover, looking out to France. The world famous approach by sea takes in the majestic cliffs and has for centuries played a key role in Dover’s history as Britain’s “frontline“. Today the cliffs offer a welcoming sight to many millions of people.
