Bremerhaven

Bremerhaven, a particularly maritime location, and Bremen, a former Hanseatic League member with a rich tradition, offer a wide variety of interesting options for exciting shore excursions.

Port of Bremerhaven

Bremerhaven is one of Germany’s leading cruise ports. In 2003, the Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven (CCCB), one of the most modern cruise terminals anywhere in Europe, was opened at Columbuskaje. The cruise terminal has both a long tradition as emigration port and state-of-the-art technical equipment, with many cruises either starting or ending here. A number of longstanding, experienced cruise operators and shipping companies
have chosen Bremerhaven as their homeport for Baltic, North Sea and Scandinavian destinations.

Maritime City

Germany’s smallest federal state Bremen consists of two cities: Bremen and Bremerhaven. They combine Bremen’s long hanseatic tradition of trading coffee, cotton and wine with Bremerhaven’s modern, booming container and automobile handling facilities.

Traditionally Hanseatic

The city of Bremerhaven is growing along the seafront: a new city center is being developed right next to the sea. In addition to a shopping mall with a Mediterranean atmosphere, an innovative type of museum will grab your attention: the so-called “Klimahaus”. This modern complex aims to make climatic changes and environmental developments tangible and understandable. This new neighborhood has been named “Havenwelten” and is set to increase the city’s attractiveness even further in the coming years. The German Emigration Museum in Bremerhaven is unique, not only because of its international significance, but also because it links the topics of passenger shipping and emigration. The German Maritime Museum and the Zoo at the Sea are also one-of-a-kind and very interesting attractions for cruise ship passengers. All these locations are the perfect illustration of Bremerhaven’s maritime background and just a few minutes drive from the cruise terminal.

Mercedes-Benz & Beck’s Beer

Bremen itself is also a popular destination for cruise ship guests. The historic city center with its many museums is located only some 45 minutes bus drive away. Several of the top attractions are located in close proximity to another, such as the Rathaus (town hall), a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the “Schnoor” quarter of the historic old town and the picturesque “Böttchergasse” alley. Thousands of people visit the famous Christmas market; the modern shopping quarter and special interest exhibitions, such as Universum or Botanica, every year. Mercedes-Benz’ production plant and the brewery where world famous Beck’s beer is brewed are top attractions for cruise ship passengers.
