The Triple A: “Atlantic Alliance Award” – goes to Fred. Olsen Cruise Line

During Seatrade Europe 2011, which took place in Hamburg last week, the Atlantic Alliance honored Fred. Olsen Cruise Line with the “Triple A”.

The “Atlantic Alliance” – Europe’s Prime Cruise Destinations, is a marketing project with the objective of advertising the region from Hamburg to Lisbon along the Atlantic west coast to cruise lines as a new cruise area. Hamburg, 4th of October 2011.

The “Atlantic Alliance”, founded in 2008, demonstrates to cruise lines that there is an alternative destination in Europe to the Mediterranean or the Baltic Sea.

2010 proved to be a record year for the 17 member ports of the Atlantic Alliance. During the 2010 cruise season a total passenger volume of 1.8 million was recorded, an increase of 14,6 percent over the previous year (2009: 1,57 million passengers). Meanwhile the total call volume grew from 976 calls in 2009 to 1.034 in 2010, an increase of 6 percent. More than 50 cruise companies have cruised through the region of the Atlantic Alliance member ports. The future continues to look very positive and further growth is forecast. Overall Atlantic Alliance members are currently expecting to show a 2011 season passenger increase of nine percent with in total 1.164 calls from 55 cruise lines. Whether regular callers or new visitors to the member ports of the Atlantic Alliance, from niche operators to the industries biggest cruise lines.

Now, it is time to honor those cruise lines, which put their trust into the Atlantic Alliance and do believe that it is a prime example of a successful maritime marketing cooperation in a region which was "neglected" in the past. The most frequent visitor, calling 2011 in total 10 ports (2010: 8 ports) of the 17 member ports of the “Atlantic Alliance” is

Olsen Cruise Line can be surely called as a year around visitor to the region of the “Atlantic Alliance”, cruising along the southern ports during high season and coming to the northern ports for the increasingly famous Christmas cruises. “The “Atlantic Alliance” region covers the seven greatest European countries. Olsen Cruise Line will again increase the number of ports, visiting then 12 member ports of the “Atlantic Alliance”.
