New cruise pier in Lisbon

The Port of Lisbon authority has concluded the construction of a new cruise pier that, together with the existing one, offers to cruise activity around 1 450 meters of berthing in Santa Apolónia Area.

This quay is served by two infrastructures, Terminal A and B, the first for transit and turnaround operations and the second only for transit calls. In 2014 the port authority expects to open the new building, the Lisbon Cruise Terminal, an investment of 25.5 million Euros, a total area of 7 790sq. meters and it will adopt the concept “friendly”, taking into consideration the aspects of comfort, accessibility and flexibility regarding the services provided to the cruise passengers and ships, according to the demands of current and future traffic.

For 2011 Lisbon expects to increase cruise activity around 13% in calls and 15% in passengers, forecasting 334 calls and 510 thousand passengers.
