Arrival of the Celebrity Constellation and The Kristina Katarina on the 5th of September 2010 in Cherbourg

Cherbourg is preparing to welcome the prestigious RCCL Celebrity Cruises vessel, Celebrity Constellation and the inaugural call of the Kristina Cruises vessels, the Kristina Katarina on the 5th of September 2010. For the second edition of the “Fêtez’escale” event, the 2500 passengers could see bands, acrobats and artists all along the streets of the city.

Different places of Cherbourg will be animated with exhibitions of old motorcycles and cars, presentations of salsa, choirs, dance, live music, circus, Normand singers, inflated bouncy castle, farm animals, exhibition of local painter artists and sale of traditional seafood and local gastronomy.

Horse-drawn carriages will enable all cruise ship passengers to discover the old town of Cherbourg, and guided bus tours will be organized to visit the area.

These cruise ships will berth at the former transatlantical harbour station dating from the 1930’s. Passengers will be able to see the Oceans Exhibition from the movie, in the Cité de la Mer Museum: exceptional images shot under every seas of the globe. 

During the call one will be able to see the special exhibition of “Millet, at the dawn of Impressionism”, a native of the country at Museum Thomas Henry, a collection of landscape painting. An opportunity to discover the variety of the media used by the painter: sketches taken from life, preparatory drawings, etchings, pastel or oil paintings on canvas composed from memory in his workshop.
