A perfect day in Amsterdam starts with a nice walk in the early morning at the canals, before the shops open, have breakfast in one of the breakfast bars on the canals and read the newspaper. After a nice coffee, walk to the Nine Streets (one of Amsterdam's finest shopping districts, with lots of small specialty shops). Take the bike to cycle to the (undiscovered) northern part of Amsterdam and have lunch in the new filmmuseum EYE, overlooking the river IJ. In the afternoon, meet with friends and visit one of the art galeries in the Spiegelstraat-district, near the Rijksmuseum. With the online booked tickets for the Van Goghmuseum (which allows you to skip the line) - we visit the 'Dreams of Nature' exhibition. It’s then a quick road crossing to reach the shady lanes of the Vondelpark, the city’s ‘green lung,’ where buskers, cyclists, in-line skaters and newspaper-readers all convene to do their thing. Have pre-dinner drinks at the 'Blauwe Theehuis' before heading to have dinner. Dine in hidden 17th century splendour at Blauw Aan De Wal in the heart of the Red Light District, taking a table in the little outdoor courtyard for a real summertime treat .The menu is seasonal and the cheese selection nothing less than sublime. After dinner, we will head to the docks at the IJ and get on to the 'Supperclub Cruise' - to take a cruise. DJ's, drinks, snacks and dance until 01:00 hrs. Then head home after a perfect sunny day in Amsterdam.
Apart from visiting the smaller and unknown museums in Amsterdam, cruise passengers can even extend their stay in Amsterdam by going to Paris or Brussels! From Amsterdam Central Station, it takes less than 3,5 hours to Paris. Brussels is a little more than one hour by speedtrain. Depart in the morning, and have lunch in Paris and visit the Eiffeltower or the Louvre. A visit to Amsterdam can be extended by visiting other beautiful cities like Middelburg (capital of the province of Zeeland), The Hague or Maastricht. All of these cities are easy accesible by train. If you want to stay in Amsterdam, take some time to visit the art galery disctrict and be surprised.
