As it happened in 2012 with the MSC Divina, also MSC Preziosa, the 13th ship of the fleet and the fourth and newest member of the emblematic class Fantasia from MSC Cruises, left the shipyard of STX Europe in St. Nazaire, situated at the base level of Loire river, near Nantes in Brittany and had Lisbon as the first port of call on the 16th of March.
On its maiden voyage, the MSC Preziosa sailed to Cadiz, Casablanca, Valencia, Marseille and Genoa, where she will be baptized on the 23rd of March.
This is the fourth ship of the class to choose the Portuguese capital for her maiden voyage, similar to what happened to their "sister-ships", MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida and MSC Divina.
To celebrate the event saying thanks to the MSC Cruises preference in choosing the port of Lisbon as the travel destination of its inaugural new ships the Port of Lisbon Authority welcomed and escorted MSC Preziosa with tugboats from Svitzer Company from the entrance of the Tagus Estuary to the berth location, Santa Apolónia Cruise Terminal.
Passengers were presented with an Academic musical group performance and the ship's captain received the commemorative plaque from Port of Lisbon Authority during the traditional welcome ceremony held on board.
With 333 meters long, 38 meters wide, 140 tons gross tonnage and 1,751 staterooms, MSC Preziosa has capacity for 4345 passengers that have at their disposal 27 000 m2 of public space with 4 main restaurants, 2 specialty restaurants, 21 bars, a casino, four swimming pools, including an "infinity pool", 12 Jacuzzis, a bowling alley, a gym and the MSC Aurea Spa.
The 18 decks of the ship have the name of precious stones, and 14 are for passengers.
