Oasis of the Seas will call the port of Vigo in 2014
Submitted by Vigo on MARCH 27, 2013
Almost five years after her departure from Finnish Aker Shipyards to the United States, Oasis of the Seas will finally cruise European waters.
With a capacity over 6.000 guests on 16 passenger decks and more than 360m length, Oasis of the Seas is the symbol of Royal Caribbean’s international strength. Her Central Park, Royal Promenade and innovative amenities have been largely expected in Europe, and 2014 will finally bring her to our ports.
It’s been a long time since Legend of the Seas first visited our port. Since then Vigo has witnessed Royal Caribbean’s growing ships and importance in international cruise traffic. Increasingly bigger ships have regularly brought to Vigo more and more visitors on board of Vision, Voyager, Navigator, Jewel, Brilliance or Independence of the Seas among others. Every one of its classes has called our port, and so it will do its emblematic Oasis Class on its first visit to Europe.
On September 27th and October 18th Vigo will welcome this colossus and her huge number of guests and crew sure to provide both of them with all the leisure and security requirements that such an occasion demands. Being accustomed to multiple calls including the most important and bigger cruises, Vigo’s more than 1000m berth and two Cruise Terminals have dealt with more than 10.000 guests the same day, as it did on last year’s triple call of Queen Mary 2, Independence of the Seas and Costa Pacifica.
Apart from a warm welcome and all the rich and various cultural and tourist offer that the city and its surroundings offer to visitors, the port of Vigo has a specific and determined commitment with security that is especially stated and proved with the amount of people involved in a call of such characteristics. So it is and so it will keep on being next year when Oasis will finally berth our port.
