This year’s finalists competing for the ESPO Award are the Spanish port of Huelva, Koper from Slovenia, Lisbon, Marseille and Rotterdam.
Since 2009 the European seaport federation has been presenting an annual award for the social integration of ports. This year the award is all about ports dedicated to pushing down the environmental impact.
Measuring the air quality
Port of Rotterdam participates with the so-called We-nose network. This unique air quality measure & monitor system optimises the working and living environment. The network consists of many electronic nose whose job is to continuously monitor the air quality in the port area; 300 noses are expected to exist by the year.
The ESPO Award winner 2014 will be announced in Brussels on 4 November 2014.
