SEPTEMBER 11, 2014

September is one of the most important months of the year regarding the Port of Vigo’s cruise traffic, but never until this 2014 had our Port hosted two consecutive triple calls, as it has this 10th and 11th of September. After Costa Pacifica, Celebrity Constellation and Wind Surf passengers and crew members have enjoyed the sun and warm welcome that our city gives to its guests, today it is time for MSC Opera, MSC Orchestra and Costa Mediterranea to crowd the city downtown, with an amazing wave of people eager to walk the beautiful old town, visit the city parks and beaches, go shopping or tasting the incredible local fish, seafood and wines.

Today’s triple call, come to be known the Italian junction because of the Italian origin of most of the visitors, includes the arrival and departure of MSC Opera passengers, that makes her 7th turnaround call in Vigo, a successful experience initiated back in 2009 with one MSC Splendida call embarking 2,146 pax and followed by Iberocruceros in 2010, 2011 and 2012 with Grand Voyager and Grand Mistral, and recently managed by MSC Cruises through 2012, 203 and 2014 with MSC Opera.

In only two days, on board of six ships, the Port will welcome over 16,500 tourists of the more than 56,000 cruise visitor expected to arrive to Vigo during the month of September, no wonder the fact that cruise traffic is the main entrance for tourism in Vigo every year.
