Amazing Parks and Gardens around Cherbourg

Normandy, a highly attractive destination for nature lovers.

For guests interested in Parks and Gardens, Cherbourg and its surroundings offers some amazing green jewels.
Have a walk in the Emmanuel Liais Park and its greenhouse, composed of more than 400 botanic species, and in the peacefull Cherbourg Public Garden holding water features, an animals corner and a children playground. Or even in The Park of La Saline, a five hectares area, where jogging, cycling or walking can be enjoyed along a dedicated path by the seafront.
Close to Cherbourg, loose yourself in the Floral Park of Martinvast Castle, or in the botanical garden of Vauville, where over 1000 species from the southern Hemisphere can be found. This unique garden is considered as the 'jewel of the Cotentin'.
For a very romantic moment, visit The Ravalet Park, its Renaissance Castle, its 'à la Française' garden and its 19th century greenhouse, classified as historical monument.
Situated in a picturesque little valley, overlooking the sea, the park of Nacqueville Castle is famous for its Rhododendrons and Azaleas. This estate was considered by the french phylosophe Alexis de Tocqueville as 'One of the most beautiful place in the world'...

Within reasonable distance from Cherbourg, it is also easy to access all the many green treasures and incredible natural sites Normandy has to offer.
The East coast, named The Saire Valley, is composed of beautiful sandy beaches, numerous typical fishing ports and villages. Climb the 365 steps of the 75 meters high Gatteville lighthouse, and appreciate the wonderful coastline. Reach the island of Tatihou from the famous village of Saint Vaast la Hougue, and discover the Vauban Tower, classified on the Unesco World Heritage List. The island also boasts a rich maritime garden and ornithological observatory.
The West coast, 'La Hague', is a wild landscape of granite cliffs, dunes and popular beaches. A compulsory stop at the cliffs of ' Nez de Jobourg', the older geologic spot of the Cotentin, offers breathtaking views of the beautiful rugged coastline. Observing the seabirds life in the ornithological park and nature reserve of Vauville is another possibility .....
The southern part of the penisular is famous for its Regional Nature Park of the Marais du Cotentin, an area of wild marshes and the traditional ' Bocage Normand ' with its rich pastures, apple orchards and rolling hills, perfect for bucolic charm lovers.
